On November 25th the third ‘school’ of the SUPER-G project, called “Winter School“, took place in Tammsalen, Ecology Centre, SLU, Ultuna.
This edition had 20 participants, ranging from students, researchers, teachers, NGOs and farmers.
The program was about “Obstacles and opportunities for sustainable management of permanent grasslands (PG) in Sweden” and contained 4 sessions.
The 1st session was about “Values of PG with focus on ecosystem services and habitats for biodiversity” and “Status report for Sweden’s grassland habitat types (Natura 2000)” by Matt Hiron (SLU) and Anders Jacobson (SLU Swedish Species Information Centre). The 2nd session was about “Obstacles and opportunities for more grazing livestock” by Anna Hessle (SLU). In the 3rd session there was a group discussion with focus on subjects covered in session 1 and 2.
And the program was closed with the 4th session “Perceptions of farmers as environmental heroes and environmental villains” given by Hanna Bergeå (SLU).
