Covering 34% of the agricultural area in the European Union and around 60 million hectares in total, permanent grasslands are an important and integral part of European landscapes. Within SUPER-G we are trying to better understand how grassland systems are valued for recreation, landscape and culture.
From that, the idea of a photographic competition and the creation of a photobook was born. To do this we wanted to see how the users and managers of the landscapes, activities and wildlife, interpret and appreciate the grassland around them.
The categories included were:
- wildlife and biodiversity,
- cultural values,
- outdoor farming activities,
- outdoor recreation,
- risks and threats.
Congratulations to Alan Hopps, Tobias Nilsson and Jantine van Middelkoop, winners of the Photobook competition! You can see the winning photos below, aren’t they spetacular?
